Chicago Sky’s Kamilla Cardoso Makes Bold Declaration After Teaming Up With Angel Reese Via 2024 WNBA Draft
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

After spending much of their collegiate careers as rivals, Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese were finally on the same team when the Chicago Sky picked them both during the 2024 WNBA Draft on Monday.

Kamilla Cardoso was selected with the third overall pick, while Angel Reese was picked seventh. And now that they’re on the same side, Cardoso couldn’t help but feel excited about forming a young, dynamic frontcourt duo with the LSU standout.

“Two great players together, nobody’s going to get no rebounds on us,” Cardoso said during the press conference after the WNBA Draft. “I think we’re going to do great things together.”

“I’m just so excited I get to play with Kamilla. I’ve been playing against her since high school,” Reese added.

Like many Chicago Sky fans, Dwyane Wade is also hopping in the Cardoso-Reese bandwagon, calling their arrivals the “New Era in Sky Town.”

The Chicago Sky are one of the biggest winners of the 2024 WNBA Draft

After finishing eighth last season with an 18-22 record, the Chicago Sky needed to retool their roster to potentially compete for titles, and they got the two foundational pieces they could build on via the draft.

Kamilla Cardoso was a key contributor to the South Carolina Gamecocks’ successful NCAA title run this year, as she averaged 14.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 59.4 percent from the floor.

Angel Reese, on the other hand, averaged 18.6 points and 12.3 rebounds per game to guide the LSU Tigers into the Elite Eight of the NCAA March Madness.

After two preseason games against the Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty, the Chicago Sky will show off their newest rookie additions when they start their new WNBA campaign against the Dallas Wings on May 15.
