Philadelphia Eagles kick off voluntary workout program
Kim Klement Neitzel-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles get back to work today as they kick off their offseason training program.

There are three different phases of the NFL offseason program that last nine weeks and are broken down into key dates throughout the spring and summer months.

Here are the workout dates for the Eagles:

First day: April 15

OTAs: May 20, May 22-23, May 28, May 30-31

Mandatory minicamp: June 4-6

Phase one starts now for the Eagles and several other teams across the league.

Over the next two weeks, there will be strength and conditioning workouts and meetings held for those who choose to attend.

Phase one
consists of the first two weeks of the program with activities limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only.

Phase Two
consists of the next three weeks of the program. On-field workouts may include individual or group instruction and drills, as well as "perfect play drills," and drills and plays with offensive players lining up across from offensive players and defensive players lining up across from defensive players, conducted at a walk-through pace. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted.

Phase Three
consists of the next four weeks of the program. Teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team practice activity, or "OTAs". No live contact is permitted, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted.

This year's workout program looks heavier for the Eagles, who previously ran a much lighter offseason program that consisted of only six total voluntary OTAs and no mandatory minicamp under head coach Nick Sirianni.

But after the devastating ending to last season and several coaching hires, the offseason workload changes were necessary.

Over the next few days, we'll keep tabs on who shows up to the workout with the team.
