One day you are flying high as QB of the St. Louis Rams. Before you know it, you are holding the clipboard in Baltimore for Joe Flacco.
Such is the trip that Marc Bulger has taken. It seems, though, that Mr. Bulger is not looked upon too fondly in the confines of M & T Bank Stadium.
On Monday, Joe Flacco comes out questioning how Bulger will affect the chemistry of the Ravens. Flacco is not looking forward to the possibility that either Troy Smith or John Beck might get cut at some point in the future, since he has a "great relationship" with them.
Today, Ed Reed came to the defense of Troy Smith. He stated that Troy Smith is "more than qualified to lead the team to an NFL championship." He also dropped that Bulger was just "“just another guy that’s been in the league..." and that S Ken Hamlin adds depth to the secondary.
Just wondering here: Bulger has been in the NFL 10 years, Hamlin 8. Yet Bulger is just another guy who's been in the league awhile and Hamlin adds depth to the Ravens secondary.
I am not knocking or questioning Hamlin's abilities in any way. He's been in the NFL for 8 years, so he is definitely doing somthing right to continue playing the game that he loves for this long. But how is Bulger "just another guy" but Hamlin isn't? Easy answer: Reed is playing favorites.
I get that from Reed, and understand that. You want the people on the team that you have know.
But, if I'm Bulger, I'm wondering if I might have made a wrong decision coming to Charm City.
